Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Lumen (the “Service”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use it. Lumen is a product of dSquare (SMC-Private) Limited, a company incorporated in Pakistan (“dSquare”, “we”, “us”), which acts as the controller of your information. By using Lumen, you agree to the practices described here. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

Lumen is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any utility company or government body.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service:

  • Account information — such as the email address you use to sign in.
  • Connection details you add — the consumer or reference numbers for the utility connections you choose to track. We only ever handle connections you add yourself.
  • Bill and usage data — copies of the publicly available bills for the connections you’ve added, so we can show you history, usage, and trends.
  • Basic technical data — limited logs and diagnostics needed to keep the Service secure and working.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • retrieve and display the bills for the connections you add;
  • generate usage history, trends, and insights for you;
  • operate, secure, and improve the Service; and
  • communicate with you about your account or important changes.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your bill data for advertising.

By adding a connection, you confirm you are authorized to access and monitor those bills, and you consent to Lumen retrieving and storing them on your behalf. You can withdraw this consent at any time by removing the connection or deleting your account.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your data. We share information only in limited cases: with service providers who help us operate Lumen (such as hosting and error-monitoring tools) under confidentiality obligations, or when required by law. We do not share your bill data with utility companies or other third parties for their own purposes.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you remove a connection, we stop fetching new bills for it. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit who can access it.

8. Your rights

You can access and update your account information, remove connections, and request deletion of your account at any time. To make a request or ask how your data is handled, contact us using the details below.

9. Children's privacy

Lumen is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
